This is driving me mad so I hope some of you clever bods can help me. I have a Discovery 2 year 2000. It has a JVC KD-R711 stero system fitted and it works great apart from the steering wheel controls. I asked the audio specialist at Hafords who sold me a PC99-JVC patch lead but I can't see anywhere to plug it in. It comes with a 12 pin end. I think I need another cable or something but I am getting confused. I believe the stalk controls are part of the main radio harness and are not separate.

Has anyone managed to do this and if so what did you use to do it. I really want to get this working!

Thanks
Chris

So you have got the patch lead, the jack plug part plugs in to a JVC head unit but only if the head unit is compatable, now you require the Autoleads interface that's compatable with your D2, so plug that in to the cars wiring and also plug the patch lead into the interface via the 12 pin plug..
Job done :)

That is what I thought, Halfords told me that all I needed was the patch lead. So one last question, how does the interface lead work if I already have a lead that changes the stock connections to the JVC units connections.

Thanks
Chris

I haven't a clue it's just a blackbox that Autoleads provide, I supect it converts the resistances that the disco switches provide to the original headunit into something that is meaningful the replacement headunit, in your case JVC.

You just have a lead for the JVC headunit to interface unit, which you require. You will find more info on the Autoleads site.
