there was some more stuff that came oot anaw when I cut the filter open!!
Dae ye think it might be worth changing the filter again after 500 miles or sooner if it's that bad?

There is only one problem with using veg oil untreated from the supermarket and thats it still contains glicerine ( CANT SPELL ) which over time lines your complete fuel system. It does work as I have done it but now I buy proper BIO which is alot better and there is no need for the silly heaters and stuff. Dont use it longterm. I used to use it for a month then get a few tanks of normal diesel through the system. I no longer use Veg oil due to the fact that if you are not paying the TAX on it and get pulled and dipped which they dont do anymore they walk round the back to the exhaust and stick a probe up it jobs done....... If you are not paying the TAX or duty as they call it you get done like ya useing RED DIESEL....OUCH. I know some ppl who have had there vehicles CRUSHED and a hefty fine.... Not good. :(

HM Revenue & Customs: Follow up to Revenue & Customs Brief 37/07 on Biofuels Simplification

If you fill out an AD23 form and send it to customs and excise you can 'produce' upto 2500 litres before you have to pay any duty,as I have done !
Also I have been running my last car for 18 months on 90% veg 10% derv using a VOW2 oil heater with no problems at all.I have just fitted another heater to my Disco 300tdi.

sigh .... unless you use more than 2500l/y you dont have to register, those who have previoulsy registered and have been using less than 2500l/y will have been de-registered

sigh..... this sounds like a vw forum.A simple non sarcastic answer would suffice. The point I was making was that you wouldn't have your car crushed if you had your tank dipped !

I have read numerous posts on this interesting subject. For me, I have seen veg oil at about 65-70p/litre. For the 6000 miles I do pa. I dont want to modify the vehicle and dont want to risk stuffing up an expensive injector pump. For a potential saving of 30p/litre and the possibility I could be breaking the law, I'm not sure its all worth it.

Your not breaking the law, but I agree with you on all the other points... SVO just isnt cheap enough.
