I have a 15 plate Sport HSE and after a recent service, I found a metal bar on the floor in front of the rear passenger seat (driver's side) and my local dealer doesn't know what it is. I'm pretty sure it's from underneath the seat somewhere, but they "say" they removed the seats and didn't find anything missing.

Can anyone here tell me?

Thank you in advance...

Oh, I'm certainly not worried - but it bothers me when "experts" say they don't know what it is when it is 90% likely it fell/broke off the cars they have expertise in.

When they make car seats, they sometimes use some flat tool to pull the underside together when fitting it, does the thing have any tool marks or slots etc on it? like one of these things TWOCCERS used to slide down the window to pull the door latches open in the 80's

This is probably a long shot - but - if you look at eBay item 273019298710 for a set of rear seats and study the pictures, you might see what looks like the end of your metal bar (the hook-end) in the underseat mechanisms.

I cant see it being an assembly tool as there doesnt appear to be an actual hand hold, I would hazard a guess at some sort of link control rod, but normally anything under the seats is black painted
Get hold of the seat back and pull each side one side at a time back and forth checking to see if either side has more play than the other there will be a rod to link the adjusters together, normally when it fails the seat wont adjust for and aft, but maybe your set is different?

The problem you will find is very few mechs even experts in one brand will ever touch seats as apart from heater elements they dont really go wrong, I take a few apart at work and if you asked me Im sure I would give you the same blank look:D

At first I thought it looked a bit like the little spring things you sometimes get on brake calipers but then I read you found it inside, it definitely looks like some sort of connecting rod. Might be worth asking another dealer. If everything around where it was found works ok then just keep it in the glovebox until you find someone that knows.
