Hey all, I’ve a 2014 discovery with keyless entry. The wife was complaining that she was getting a ”smart key battery low“ fault alarm every time she started the car. So me being the good husband and take the key apart change the battery, then go out and check it still works. But it doesn’t, won’t unlock on the button, via the keyless handles and the car says smart key not found (once I manually opened the doors) when I try and start it. Same thing with the spare key. Both will start the car under the steering column. I’ve tried the fuse removal trick and the GAP tool doesn’t show any faults other than after I tried the fuse trick. Anyone got any ideas?

Was it a new battery or 1 you had in the house for a year or so?

When our L322 started showing that message we went and brought new batteries after 1s in the house only lasted a week before message came up again. No problem after second change.

So worth trying a brand new from the shop battery.

We dont have keyless entry, would it need syncing again to be keyless? if so read the manual.

Oh and welcome :) .

J, Thanks for the prompt to check the batteries. They were Duracell, and the pack was pretty new. So new that they have a load of child safety precautions. Like, a sticker, on the underside. Incase I child swallows them. A sticker, that you have to remove before use. Rather embarrassing 😳 but sticker removed from the batteries in both fobs and what do you know, they both work. Just glad I discovered my mistake before phoning the garage. Thanks again

At least you are big enough to admit to it, and give us all a bit of a giggle :)
Fair play you should hang around for the fun others have;).

Your admittance will be of help to someone in time to come, if you did somebody else will do it:oops:.

I even swapped batteries between the fobs yesterday. Just never turned them over 🤦. She’s still out, might tell her a spent all day on it. But will probably give her the opportunity to laugh at me too.

Just curious why the rx8 at the end of your user name?

Well you could call it noseyness ;) .

Sort of thought that :).

Sold my last RX7 when we moved here loved the engine/car. but it wouldn't cope with the roads here or was it my back🤔.

Just LRs for us now :).Anyway stick around for the fun, or should I say join in you have obviously stuck around;)
