I was hoping that someone could advise me of what they think might be wrong with my 2006 Discovery 3.

The problem which has occurred recently is that when starting the car from cold, the acceleration is really sluggish and even with my foot to the floor, the pick-up is really slow. This has put me in a couple of dangerous situations recently as I have to pull out onto a main road every morning!

The acceleration eventually picks up and when the car has warmed up the problem seems to subside albeit, the 'kick-down' doesn't seem to be quite as sharp as it was.

Been down to a garage this morning and the chap there said that it could be 'a multitude of things' but also said that he had not come across this before.

Could anyone please shed any light on this.............

Many Thanks.:(

Hello
Just joined site today after reading your problem. We have a 2006 Discovery 3 and are experiencing the very same problem you are describing. We purchased the car exactly a year ago with full service history and were due a service and thought that the air filter was getting clogged and hoped the service would sort this out. However this has not solved the problem and even when the car is warm the acceleration is not as sharp as it should be.
Just wondered if you have managed to get any futher with a diagnosis as our service was only on Monday.

I would say its a failed EGR or maybe even both

Because your pre 2007, best way would be to buy a balnking kit and take the EGR's out of the equation completly

I have the Bell Auto's kit fitted to mine. Quality bit of kit, great instructions, easy to do DIY, and fixed my sluggish problems the same as your have

Thanks for your advice, think you could be on right track as it sounds a problem that is occuring on a quite a few LR3's. May have the benefit of Landy mechanic through a relative so will let you know outcome!
P.S The problem has only occured in last two weeks and isn't confined to vehicle starting from cold but is also happening when the engine has warmed up.
Cheers!
