I noticed "some corrosion" on both the side steps fitted to our Disco 2, so today set about repairing the drivers side one.

As ever "the battle of the bolts" ensued, even after a good soaking in penetrating oil, and the 4 bolts holding the step on took quite a while to get out. Once the step was off, this was the view::eek::eek:

I had already worked out that some 30mm right angle was exactly right to go over the tube so set about drilling and pop riveting the new steel on:

Now if you can weld then obviously tack welding this along it's length would be better, but even as I have done this repair it feels very much more solid.

Re assembled it after running the bolts through a die to clean them up and used loads of coppaslip ready for next time.

About 3 hours in total, and the steel cost me £11 from Wickes, would be far less if we had a decent stockholder nearby......#

Just the other side now!

Ill do mine too I think looks ok it will do for a couple of years give time to get new cheers peter
