Hi Everyone.

I'm keen to buy a second-hand Evoque but have been warned by a former owner that pre-2017 models are notorious for serious engine issues. Rebuild costs of £10,000 plus were suggested.

My present car has just become an insurance write-off after a no-fault collision so I'm keen to get some sensible advice urgently to avoid extended car hire fees.

Also, does anyone have any advice re Autotrader, Cazoo, Carzem for buying second hand cars.

Thanks if you can help.

Welcome:)

Sorry I have no insight in to the Ejoke and dont really expect to have a want...... yet:eek::D.

You may want to edit you postcode to close enough:)

I did hear the insignium diesel engines were a big issue, mainly with oil dilution, unsure specifally which models/engine size etc, 2 litre rings a bell?
I think I read something about the petrol engines as well, but that was some time ago.

I like my land rovers, but really struggle to recommend them to anyone I know, in fact I actively put them off, especially if they cannot diy as the bills will cripple you.

Your biggest issue on here is most members will not consider the smaller range rovers as land rovers at all, same as the disco sport.
It has taken land rover enthusiasts 15 odd years to come to terms with the freelander!

@TomD39 welcome. However ejokes are not. You will struggle to get advice on a freelander III on these pages. There are a couple of ejoke specific sites, where delusional people, who think they have a Range Rover , hang out. Those would be your best bet. I can't get a link for you, just in case my internet history is ever searched.
Other than that good luck, and if you decide to buy a properly badged Freelander, or another Land Rover product, we will all be here to support you. :)
