Series 2 Wont Run

hello all
i bought a series 2 last weekend. only problem is sometimes it will run super. went to start it tonight it just coughs and splutters and will run for around 10 seconds. why is this. does anyone no
the engine is a 2.25 petrol

have a word with S71 he is an eggspurt on none runnin series

fuel ? inline filter clogged ? carb ok ? pump ok ?

see told ya he was an eggspurt

no inline filter. fuel is in the bowl ill take the fuel line off 2morrow to see what its like. other than that the fuel pump was just rebuilt with new diaphram and carb i havent checked yet.

ok if a webber then from the engine bay pull the choke full on and start it.

also just to get the thing running you can turn up the idling speed just to sort out the running of the thing then turn it back down if you get it sorted !

doesnt work just dies on the choke instantly wont start on half choke.

what about no choke and with your baseline idle screw turned up ?

It's easy, dissconect pipes from behind drivers seat, undo bolts - just put a jack under it first, especially if its full, else you drop a fuel tank on you... which is all bad

Or in the real world.......
support the tank on a jack, cut off the bolts (with a grinder if necessary - a Dremel would be good here).
Undo the filler and breather pipe behind the driver's seat, drop tank out.
