Hi All,

I am close to buying a 1956 series 1 SWB. As it will occasionally be used as a family car I need to fit seatbelts and as we might need to use it this Christmas (see the Met office weather predictions!) I need to do this ASAP.

Q: Can anyone point me in the direction of companies selling retro-fit kits for the three front seats please? Will I only be able to fit a lap belt in the cerntre seat?

That would cover my wife, my oldest daughter and me. For my youngest (2yr old) we already have an isofix seat with a built in full harness. Isofix is effectively two low mounts at the back of the seat that clamp around metal loops welded in by modern car manufacturers to the steel bulkhead between the rear seat upright and base cushions.

I have a plan to fit two suitably proportioned angle line steels, fitted transversley across the car behind the front seats. The rear of these bars will be fitted with two steel loops for the seat's Isofix mounts to clamp to.

Q: Are there suitable sturdy areas to bolt these angle lines to? EG under the rear side bench seat cushions?

Apologies it any of my questions are naive / stupid but as I do not (yet) have the Landy, I cannot poke around it.

Thanks,
Boggie

if safety is paramount i'm not sure a S1 is the best option for you, not sure i'd transport a young family around in one in bad conditions.

I'm not as familiar with the S1 as the S2 and S3 - is there a solid rear bulk head? If so you may want to consider 3 x 4 point harnesses for the front 3 passengers - this would give the best safety for the 3 front passengers. As for your youngest and isofix - no idea i'm afraid, not got kids so never looked into this.
