DO NOT USE BRITPART !!!!!! look at the lopsided landy thread and ull see wht most people think of them !

You'll be fine running with knackered springs as long as none of the leafs are broken.
They're not that bad to replace, the only prob you might have is the bolts seized in the bushes. When you order the springs get a set of u-bolts so you can just cut the old rusty ones off it's easier.

ok thaks for that just been out sside and wire bbrushed all the bolts in the springs up and give em a good soak with wd40 think i will do this a few times befor i start wont have the cash until next month

that's a waste of time

good chance the bolts will be seized within the chassis bushes - grind the heads off and knock through the remainder of the bolt if you can - the real fun starts when you want to replace the bushes

thought that.. just been reading a few old posts sounds like hard work .do you always replace the bushes when changing springs first time i will have done this .better go and get some cutting discs . cheers

burn them out !!! makes a mess n the reli book ses no cuz thery think theyll explode or smit like tht ive done it n not ptoblems n fairly easy to clean the mess

Best thing to do is to try to undo all the spring bolts now,if they are free they should come out easy,if not then order some bolts for when you do the job and just cut them off ;)

For the sake of a couple of quid just cut them off!

I was in B & Q a few months or so ago and picked up some cutting dics that where 3mm thick! best bit they where £4 for a pack of 15!!!!!

It took about 30 seconds per bolt, and now I have piece of mine that they are new!

Just before you go sh 1t crazy with the grinder, remember that some of the bolts screw into the frame/shackles and then have a nut on them so if you cut of the head it would bit more than trickey to get them out!!!!!

It will save you a LOT of time, swearing, blood loss, WD40 and lost love!

Have fun - oh I found it helpfull to have an additional trolley jack on hand to move axels up so I so I could line up bolts/sprnigs/shackles

budget 3 hours for lot if bolts play ball!

Good point max,on the rear spring shackle the bolt has a nut on the inside, take that off first and then crack the bolt loose as it's threaded in the shackle, then undo the top nut n bolt and then you should be able to spin the inside shackle off the seized bottom bolt(provided the top one isn't seized aswell!) then just grind the bolt off between the spring and shackle.

right thanks for that cutting them off best option for me. will get all the gear together first looks like another trip to famous four .wont be just yet though got to save some cash.
