good to know, I will wait untill I have kids to fit them then :D

I just bought me a very nice interior for the 72 on ebay for £100 for all seats and carpets and mats :D

he he he...sounds good..

i have what you are thinking of doing..

1972 2 door..running toyota quad cam v8 tuned to 300hp..supercharger (m112) waiting to go on her..late p38 cream leather seats (heated!)..plus+plus+plus etc..

p38 seats are fine (but a bugger to fit as too wide up front and totally different rear fitting)..all you have to do is slide forward and wind seat handle to tilt..takes seconds..front seat belts just need you to strenghten b piller and weld in nut..easy..fit the rear belts, you can still buy the rear belt brackets..

my next job on her is roll cage too(and supercharger),want same as you internal and dont get in the way...

may i reccomend the citroen berlingo full length webasto sunroof..fits nice and soooooooooooooooooooo nice in summer...opens up beyond rear seats..

good luck with the gearbox..on number 5 now..

oh..be carefull about how you do this project if using 72 motor..you need to keep alot of it original,no cutting welding bits too the chassis, make it all boltable, keep original axles(just the casings will do) keep original rangie type suspension etc..cos otherwise vosa can take your lovely age related plate (cheap insurance/zero tax) away and give you a q plate.ahhhhhh..

i know its a pain, but totally possible as i have done it..real pain that i cant just go and install nissan patrol running gear, gearbox an all,so much better and it fits, but cant do as lose too many vosa points..pooh..

Hi, thanks for the heads up on that front. I had no idea.

The whole reason for paying up for a 72 is that lovely plate :D

I think that everything remains as is. They change the springs and dmapers but not anything else and the beefed up diffs and shafts are fitted to the original casings.

apple, how much is the zulu conversion?

zen has exhausted the uk supplies of lt85's :p so what box do they use?

On a new Landie they quote 38 + vat. I suspect on an old Rangie there will be more work to do etc.

As for the box, I knew the answer yesterday but have since forgotten. I believe the auto is the ZF from the P38, does that sound right? The more modern ones are too complicated to program/change.

proberly not the p38, as the transferbox wont fit without mods...(but it could be ..)

to tell you the truth the engineering bits are easy..the sourcing the spare parts to make your 2 door as good as new is the bugger...you will need new door, window etc seals..no hope of finding them, its the silly little bits that are impossible to find..

fit the p38 seats...so much better than any of the classic seats..and they come in cream..

Each car I've looked at has had knackered window seals :(

Re the P38, the front seats don't tilt though?

so you buy an old RRC and pay em £38k+ to do it up and your worried about road tax

tell me you mean £3800 and I might think about it :D

seals are on ebay form time to time, very happy to find mine were very good apart from the back ones which arnt too bad though.

those mild steel sliders on the back go for about £80 too bet they were like £7 from the dealer once.

That rubber softener come in yet zen?

Never mentioned road tax. Pre 73 means old style number plate which is the real driver.

I tried lr series with no luck but they are on ebay for £50, new old stock!!!

No sure if I would be 38k bothered about a number plate but each to there owns

Plus its nice not paying the govt anything

Cost of the engineering doesn't vary whether a 72 or a 73 or an 84 :D

Going for a 72 is a personal choice.

Are there any seals on Ebay at present? Couldn't see any.
