Looking at rustproofing and found Rust Buster of East anglia.

They quote £150.00 - £170.00 to waxoyl a 4x4, and state
Your car will be thoughly steam cleaned to remove dirt, grease, loose rust and any previous undersealants. It will be left to dry.

Black waxoyl is usually applied unless you specify clear as we feel this gives a more pleasing effect on the eye. The waxoyl is applied underneath and to the wheel arches. Basically all metal areas exposed to the elements.

Finally your vehicle is given a full body wash to remove any excess.

I sent them a message to ask if they did inside the chassis box sections or if this was extra. Here is the reply.

Thank you for contacting Rust Buster of East Anglia.

The quoted price includes a full steam to the vehicle, and waxoyl applied to all visible areas which are exposed to the elements underneath including the wheel arches.

If you would like the waxoyl applied inside the cavities then this would be extra, although in our experience this is a process that is not really necessary and being honest one that you also cannot prove to be done.

If you need any more information or would like to book please call 01603 400559.

So, apparently, rust protection is not necessary inside the box sections...

And I thought that was the worst place for rust...

They're not doing specialist Land Rover waxoyling so they're probably correct. For example a lot of modern Japanese 4x4s don't even have a ladder chassis, or are built on front and rear subframes that are much smaller so it's not really worth trying to inject waxoyl inside them.

However on a landy it's pretty essential to fill all the cavities and chassis internals with Waxoyl, especially at the rear end around the cross member. That's why I'm doing mine myself while I've got my 90 stripped down to a bare chassis.

Hey exactily what I thought, would be interesting to know how much they would charge for doing the cavitys,
I don't see how it would up the price too much, the hard work has been done with cleaning and doing the rest of the underside, the inside is just using a flexible lance and going in through every available hole in the chassis. Up on a ramp another 30 minutes would see it done.

Can see exasctly what they are getting at with not being able to prove theyve done the insides of the chassis. There are plenty of people out there that want to get things for free complaining someone hasnt done thier job properly is an easy way to do so :)
