Have one of these which has developed a problem

When pulling off or putting power down at low speed sub 30 there is an awful squeal, initially thought is was the brakes sticking but these have been checked, noise is not there if I knock gear into N.

Car is 02/52 with 24k on the clock

Any help much appreciated, the car has an extended RR warranty so hopefully covered by that

is it like a belt squeel or a grinding type squeel?

maybe the front diff and prop are grinding together, i know i might be jumping in at the deep end but it was a common problem

when in gear and pulling away the worn teeth would grind and cause a horrible grinding noise :(

Thanks for the reply

It is a grinding noise

It only happens when pulling away, putting load on something

Is the front diff and prop covered by warranty especially if it is common problem

you must be just startin to get fault it wont last much longer

there was a service action on it so may be worth a call to ur local dealer to see if its still an open action on your car, cross ur fingers that its covered cus dont think its a cheap repair, any ways if not l/r warrenty your extended warranty will cover it as its mechanical breakdown :)

Once again thanks for the advice

I'm sure the front diff was checked earlier this year, but will contact the garage

Seems the car has done too much standing around and not enough miles, it had done only 14k up to Feb this year in 39 months

Have spoken with L/R Assistance who are arranging to collect the car, as the discription of the fault does indeed sound like front diff

Once again thanks for your help

np nick sounds like u got a great car with low milage hopefully it is good to you,
help here is never a problem :)

Well all I can say is I'm glad I paid for the extended warranty, just had a call from the garage to confirm that both the front diff and prop will be replaced.

Guess that would be somewhat expensive!!!
