you may have been following my posts... if not... there are joys, fun, laughter, but behind it all is a great sadness due to the source of the freelander, and my fathers fight with cancer.
I will restore the freebie to the best of my ability (use to do e-types - golf GTIs - Escort MExicos et all) but now I'm struggling getting the finances together
short of selling my body parts on the black market, or selling parts for sexual gratification of others, I have decided another tactic.
Begging.
Yes.. I'm begging people for any unwanted Freebie 1 bits that I can fit on the TD4.
I'm begging for air con pipes (under the rad) IRD Cooler to Heater Matrix pipe (or just the elbow at the top)
any old bolts that you may have discarded when separating a box or IRD from the engine.
and drivers side (RHD) Windscreen Wiper and Arm!!
I'm also looking for inspiration..... what I mean by this is.... While the engine is out, other than replacing brakelines - and cleaning; what else should be done under the engine bay.
also.... what can I do to make the freebie TD4 a little bit pokier... (when it's finally done)

I'm also advertising on sites such as gumtree and preloved for someone who would like to donate their dead or read end smashed TD4 to (what I would think is) a great cause.
The donor car; is by far the best option for me - as I have so many missing parts; it's unreal.
so...
other than reading this and saying "you cheeky B*****d" please read this post (link https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/please-help-whats-missing.287630/#post-3553496 ) before calling me a cheeky B*****d please.... there is an awful lot of sentiment with this car; and usually; I would have got rid of it......

OK.. so... has anyone got any Freebie bits they would like to kindly donate please (TD4 2003) - or bits they are willing to take a small amount of cash for?
I guess this post will probably become "found in the wrong section" and moved...

Depends how desperate you are. I have a 3 door shell going spare once I have taken some bits off it later this week.

No gearbox, IRD, Diff, Turbo or fuel tank cradle etc

Engine is buggered, and missing cam cover and HPFP...

I would jump at the chance of bellhousing to engine bolts, IRD to gearbox bolts. - Anything that's no good really... the shell I have is a 3door 2seater LGV SWB and in good knick... i just need to get things re-fitted and working again.
I'm even considering a second hand NOT Seized (working or not) VCU - just so I can leave the prop on the car while i save up for a working VCU.
although - Air Con pipes would be great too - especially the one that fits along the bottom of the radiator.
WiperArms..Heat Shields - even down to exhaust mounting rubbers!
Geeze - there is so much....

Don't ever fit a dodgy or suspected dodgy vcu, it will end in tears, better to go mondo mode till you have a good drivetrain to put on, I always thought freelancer bits were surprisingly cheap in breakers yards.

Anyone..... Is £650 too much money for a TD4 2004 Freelander 1 - complete, but a rear end write off??? - urgent opinions please
It will also be delivered to my door for that money!
apparently (until i hear it... it has a good engine, box, ird and VCU. - oh and Alloys which Dads doesnt have.)

I'd offer 500, just for the engine, gearbox and alloys ... plus you'll get all the extras, lights, seats, dash, etc etc etc ... i'd say worth it if you need the parts!

why don't you ask your dad if you could sell the p38 to fund the freelander? ... or, personally this is what i would do, i would fix the freelander and sell it, then use the money to fix up the p38 and keep it.

the P38 - well... he has two - one is his girlfriends - so the one on the graveyard is there as spares for the roadworthy one.
but as with all things family related..... thats another story

ah, fair enough
I've noticed your signature: "Freelander 2002 TD4 Manual 5 Door - 2" lift, 16" mods and Mud Terrain, Leisure battery, front spots, rear spots, loads of gadgets ... and more to come"
How'd you get the 2" lift?? - is there a post relating to how you did it??? -you have me intrigued - in fact interested in doing this to the SWB "VAN"

No, it was very simple to do, took about an hour per corner, had to cut a bit of the inner wing to let the steering arm through on the passenger side but only about an inch square.

No problems with drive shaft angles, or anything as of yet.
