Hi all
Ive recently fitted a new alternator to my P reg 300tdi, before it was fiited the rev counter would stop and started when it felt like it so when the new alternator was fitted i noticed the wire had been melted as the alternator that was on had now heat sheild on.
So i attached some extra wire to make it reach easier now on a motorway run the rev counter does not reach 3000 as it did before is the wire i fitter at fault
Thanks

The quick answer is, yes, that wire is the rev-counter feed, yes, try and make sure you have a good firm electrical connection. Should cure your problem. (Common problem)

Hi, which wire is the rev counter feed as mine don't work correctly it fluctuates and don't go above 2000 revs! so i need to trace the wire to locate the problem.

Cheers
