Hi all,
Just bought a set of powerfold mirrors, with the module and switch.. I had a brief search around forums beforehand and generally it looked like a straight forward swap. I'm expecting delivery today or tomorrow, so thought I'd just have a quick look behind the glovebox for the plug to fit the module.. but can't seem to find it? I've since seen some articles suggesting that the loom/plug will be there if you have a harman kardon audio system, which my Serengeti has not. I've not completely given up yet and will have a proper look to see if it's hiding somewhere and if I can find then all good, but if not:
I've seen "universal folding mirror modules" on Ebay for c£10, I've yet to find any clear instructions on how exactly they work, but they look like they work from a signal from the central locking, which I guess then triggers some sort of relay which you wire to the fold/unfold wiring of the mirrors.. I'm wondering if anyone's had any experience of them? If I need to do some mods to fit the mirrors, kind of like the idea of them just working with the CL and therefore completely bypassing anything to do with the ecu or switch. I know people have talked about this before, but I would imagine its more complicated if you are trying to add the functionality to activate from CL into an existing system, ie. maintain the LR module and also be operate from the normal dash switch.
As always with this top notch forum, any thoughts on the subject are much appreciated.. cheers!

Look in the Freelander section for information in this retrofit, as it uses a similar system, and has been done on several occasions. ;)

Just done a search on the freelander section and there are loads in there.. Thanks for the pointer! At first glance they seem to be mostly about adding the central locking folding function to existing installs, rather than wiring it up independently.. But hopefully there's some wiring diagrams in there which will make things clearer for me. Thanks again!
