Currently have a Defender 110 but looking for a Series II. What would a fully restored vehicle cost these days? After a quick search online I have found some for £7000-£13000 which does seem quite steep, although they looked like new and were from delaers not private sellers. Don't have the time nor space to do a rebuild myself.

So what do you think a fully restored Series II is worth? Possibly 4-7K or?

It all depends on how restored you want it.....You can have one like Truckies which will be like it just came out of the factory for 10 grand....or one that has been stripped and tidied up for 4 ish

Thanks for the advice, it's good to start the search with some realistic numbers in mind. As tidy as possible but a working vehicle, not a museum piece.

Think about it. You can probably get your hands on a "project" s2 for less than 500 quid if you keep looking long enough. Then think what it would cost to do it up to spot on concours condition? A ****in lot of money. So now you've got your top and bottom bracket figures you can work out what each individual vehicle is worth to you based on what it's had done and what it needs doing. It's not hard to imagine how an "as new" series landy can be worth 10 grand + if you consider how much time and money it takes to get from scrapper to mint is it.

That's the problem isn't it. There must be loads of people finding themselves proper out of pocket when they have to sell. So if you can find a seller who's done a right good job and is desperate for cash you might get a really good one for a lot less than it cost to restore.
