I don't think it matters which way round you wire it, have you tested it on a bench? Removing it may have loosened an internal connection.

How many wires? Does it have an internal 2 speed resistor? The flat one does and one side is connected to earth inside so you can get a short if its wrong and on mine all the wires were brown which did not help.

Do you mean the flat Smiths one inside or the box one under the bonnet?
Flat one inside cab. I appreciate you getting back to me, I have sorted it now. I spent 3hrs yesterday on it and just over 4hrs today, Cut a long story short I found that there is a shorting out where all the wires that go into the 2 fuse holder Just pushing on the bank of wires made the heater work!! So happy now lol.
Another question for you f ok? Do you know where I can find out how I can do away with the 2 fuse box and put a bigger fuse box? Many thanks Mark

Rather than try to fit a bigger fuse box wich is quite tricky as it could require a lot of wiring to break up the circuits it may be better to fit some in-line fuses to specific circuits that you have concerns about. The other thing that works well is to put in some fused relays, this adds some fuses and reduces the current through the old wiring.

Are they easy to fit as I’m not the brightest when it comes to electrics! lol
