ok so over the weekend i have changed the tailgate brand new genuine regulator brand new genuine handle and the window still does not drop below the roof trim so i can open the back door safely all out of ideas any help would be appreciated cheers

Does the window open and close in normal operation. I too did mine this weekend and at first it worked perfect but today it didn't drop on opening door. I took the panel off and noticed the large white plug that was compressed when I fitted it has opened up. When you re compress it the windows opens slightly when the door is opened. Not sure if this will help you but that is What has happened to mine.

what is this large white plug of which you speak

Sorry didn't explain it properly, it's the White part by the regulator motor that has the spring on. I maybe totally wrong and I'm sure there are lots of wiser people on here but I found that if that plug is still held in with its retaining clip it works as it should. I think it is a safety device in case the window is too tight, that opens rather than snap the wire. I have attached a pic of the clip the way I think it should be, hope it makes sense and helps

I have not seen the white holder like that before, maybe the clip on it is for transportation of it, and maybe the clip should be removed or it may clip into place again and stop it working properly, hope this helps as I was writing you put the picture on that clip is for assembling it and I would have thought taking it of after to allow it to work properly.

Possibly so, I don't know but I found that when the clip wasn't in place then the window wouldn't drop when the handle is pressed. Took a lot of trial and error but when I put that back in the locked place it worked every time. I suppose it would of been nice to look at a working one for the right answer but mine was totally mangled when I took it out
