Hello to all. Right, my freelander td4 05reg has gone through the wars of late but it is 12 years old so I can't complain but I will.. Anyway the turbo went about 3 months ago, so I got that sorted. My back exhaust box was peeling open so that had to be changed at the weekend and at the same time I got the rear diff bush changed. Now I had the bush changed because it was clunking when pulling off, once the old bush was out I could see how bad it was

But after it was changed there was a horrible droning noise. Any ideas?

Was a drive shaft damaged while the bush was done? If the diff isn't supported correctly, then that is a possibility.

PROPSHAFT CENTRE BEARINGS COULD NEED CHANGING
I HAVE HAD THREE SETS ON OURS.IF YOU CAN LIFT THE SHAFT UP & DOWN OR THE BEARING SOUND DRY THEY
NEED CHANGED.IF YOU HAVE JUST HAD THE FRONT MOUNTING ON THE DIFF CHANGED THAT CAN SET THE
BEARINGS TO GO.HOPE THIS IS SOME HELP.

I don't think it was supported, I know he had a right game getting the inner to line up to get the long bolt to go through. :(Other than that I haven't got a clue. Maybe it will need time to bed in..
The other problem I have got now is it won't start anyway, it's just clicking so I think the starter solenoid is duff:mad:. It's not raining it's ****ing it down...:(

The diff mountings are handed,They have a long and a short side.
you can fit them the wrong way round. The long side should towards the diff,it is worth a check.

Something has been done wrong. If it didn't vibrate before the work, then take is back for them to fix it. The front diff mount isn't at all difficult to change. But the diff needs to be supported, or damage to the CV joints can result. I'd be taking it back before more damage is done.

It looks like you've had the car a couple of years, but have you done these 3 tests...

The front diff mount does go like that - the one I took off my parts car recently looked exactly the same - and probably the one on my daily will look just as bad when it comes off shortly! However, if there's transmission wind up it can hasten their destruction. Also, if you replace the mount with a cheap aftermarket one, you'll probably be doing the job again very shortly!

Sorry not yet, thanks for asking.
I changed the battery so it up and running. The noisy I can only describe as is when your on a bus when it's slowing down, plus it only makes the sound when I take the foot off the accelerator and coast. It is noisy and annoying.
