That shouldn't work (and doesn't for me) because they are locked (encrypted?) to the version of Acrobat included in the package.

Yes correct. If you open it and have the acrobat folder they will not open, as I have mentioned. I have just relised as tried it after you said.
But I have the copies of the manuals so don't normally click on the "rave" files.
However the copy/copies I have they don't all have that folder. If they don't, then you can open as I said.

I have never been able to run the "compatibility" mode peeps keep saying, maybe its because I was trying to run the rave file which didnt have the acrobat file 🤔. No I will not try, I have the files I need:).

There is something like that.
The Acrobat I have does not open, and the one in the package does not install.

All I can suggest is search tinternet a bit more.
I can tell you they are out there, and Rave all models seems newer and works for me, as do some others.

I've been battling with the WIN 11 issue for some time now but having tried a multitude of things I just can't get RAVE to run so I'm finally admitting defeat and will have to use an old laptop. As an interim fix for others that are struggling, until a greater person than I comes up with a solution, I've uploaded the following pdfs to Dropbox for others to download.

2001 MY System Descriptions
2001 MY Service Procedures

I've found a fix for the non running of RAVE in Win 11. It came from an MG forum and there are a couple of extra steps in addition to the compatibility mode bit. Full instructions are as follows;

1) Locate and open the 'Acrobat4\Resource' folder and delete the folders 'CMap' and 'Font' or rename them (you may get a warning of missing fonts when running RAVE but it doesn't seem to cause any issues).

2) Right click on AcroRd32.exe in the Acrobat4\Reader folder.
Select "Properties" and then "Compatibility".
Under "Compatibility Mode" check the box for "Run this program under compatibility mode for:" and from the drop down menu select "Windows 98 / Windows ME". Apply/OK all selections.

3) Right click Tdata.exe. Select "Properries" then "Compatibility". Under "Compatibility Mode" check the box for "Run this program under xompatibility mode for:" and from the drop down menu select "Windows 98 / Windows ME". Apply/OK all selections.

Now double click on Tdata.exe, and hopefully you'll be up and running.

Download "P38_RAVE_with_TSBs.iso" and mount the ISO. Either run it directly, or extract the folders & files. Use compatibility mode as described above.

Thanks Pete, this is a great resource.
I made a list of jobs to do when replacing a clutch here https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/clutch-change-in-a-td4-list-of-jobs-to-do.315242/
Maybe something to add.

Ali, There's also an updated info for the FL1 Facelift in the "RAVE All Models" version (also on my Goggle Drive). This version works on Mac OSX as well.

So I extracted the ZIP file and had a go. I use Linux Mint 99% of the time and was a little confused for a bit as I couldn't install anything.
Then I clicked on the rave-lr.pdf fire and it just worked. :D
Currently most of my bigger issues are self inflicted by being stupid enough to rip out the diseasil engine and bolt in a leccy motor but I do need to sort out a few things like the heated windscreen, and the reversing lights and sensors so this should be a big help thanks mate.
