Hi all!
I have recently bought an 08 Freelander 2 HST. When pulling away even when warm there is a slight rattling tappet noise until up to speed. It is worse listening from the out side.
Is this normal or is there wear starting. Oh 49,000 miles.
Cheers!

When I bought mine from a non-LR dealer I had a nagging doubt about their service so I did an oil and filter change and its seemed much happier. Just had a feeling they hadn't used the correct 5-30 semi.

I heard a little bit of the pinking noise today again and I am wondering if anyone has heard of either the auto adjuster or idler pulleys for the drive belt would make a noise like this.

the tappet are hydraulic and run on your engine oil that is why you must put the correct grade in and change it when it is recommended or the next time you will hear it could be the last:5bbeatdeadhorse5:
