Radio relocation

Hi there has anyone relocated there radio in a disco 1? I bought mine with no radio but I know a lot of the aftermarket radios don't fit properly in the designated spot so am looking to relocate somewhere else.
Any help would be great!

I take it your on about a 200tdi with it in front of the gear sticks?

I fitted mine into the passanger side underdash stowage box with a remote for ease

Yeh 200 in front of gear levers. Passenger stowage box isn't a bad idea actually didn't think of that! Was thinking of relocating into armrest box with custom made insert, sealed box with sealed wiring would make it fairly safe against water plus minimal shock in centre of the car!

When I had a 200 I just lived with the unit sticking out by the 1 1/2 2 inches

Mine fitted in the end just by cutting away a load of that black soundproofing/Rubber whatever it is thats on the transmission tunnel, if you cut it away at every side then you do get a bit of extra space, the only problem now is when you put it in low range it hits the stereo front but its bearable.
