got a 2a 1968 petrol 2 1/4, got a vibration at 40ish mph thought it was the front prop as the spline was a bit "wiggly" so replaced that and still have same vibe! any clues?

What sort of vibration? Is it a noise from somewhere? does the steering wheel vibrate? does the whole vehicle vibrate? is it up and down or side to side? how fast? does it happen under drive, under the overrun or both? does it happen if you're coasting? does it go away above 40mph? have you accidentally knocked it into 4wd? does it happen in 4wd? does it go away if you gently brake? are there any obviously missing wheel weights? are the inside of the wheels caked in mud? do any of the tyres look distorted/bulging? is there any obvious play in the wheels or steering? did you check the tyre pressures?
Saying you've got a vibration is like saying to a doctor "it hurts"!

If its got fwh no need to remove the prop, but the vibes and noise on mine was the rear prop.
Paddocks i think 40 pounds plus p+p.

I go with wheel balance as first point of call, as most common,

...rear prop is likely, but you cannot feel this through steering so much feel it through seat....

Also usualy feel it under lift off from high spped...

I dont think the op mentioned the steering?
The row my rear prop made was interesting.

right, here we go, no vibe through steering, no free wheeling hubs, tried without front prop, still there, although vibration is less now I have fitted an overdrive, the rear prop feels ok but I am going to try by removing it and see if the vibration is still there with just the front prop connected. The vibration is not a fast vibration like a drill, its more like if you had a warped brake disc or a washing machine starting a spin cycle. you can feel it though the seats. hopefully this will help with diagnosis

Had something similar before, not on a landy but on my normal car.

Horrible vibration from 50mph up. Turned out the tyres were mis-shaped

My mate had this happen to him - sounds like a similar problem. Funny sideways vibration felt in the seat of the pants. Turned out to be a very strangely shaped rear tyre.

thank you! it all seems to be pointing toward wheels and tyres so next on the list to try, cheers to all who tried to help
