Hey Folks ,

Was wondering if anyone has encountered this , noticed water on the passenger side.

An update on the water in footwell , before I start I better mention that the red you are seeing is food colouring I used this to make it easier to see where the water was travelling etc.

I tested the windscreen, power washed etc etc and no water is entering the cabin. I've covered the Air Intake with Perspex so no water coming in behind the glove box.

I am stil getting water in footwell so after a bit of digging I found a Drain hole to be blocked which is only accessible from underneath the vehicle & sits roughly inline with the passenger door . I cleared this with some thin wire and all the water that was trapped had come tricking out at some speed and I managed to collect approx 300 / 400 ml of water, this indicates to me there must be a pocket where the water sits but where ?

I have been told there is another drain hole round about that area but can't locate it any idea ??

Before I cleared the drain hole from underneath water was seeping through the seams as in pic which indicated water being held somewhere for it to overflow into footwell now that I have cleared the drain hole I never had a great amount of water in cabin but enough to see it's still seeping in.

I am paying more attention on the passenger door as it's definitely coming in from there as I tested only the door & frame with water etc. Could it be the door check strap seals or the wiring loom which is letting water trickle in & cause the water ingress ??

Lastly I did notice the rubber strip that is attached to the pillar of the passenger door has come away from the body , it looks as if it was held in place with double sided would this be right & could that let water in also ?

See pic below

I can only think that when it's raining water is running down the front of the passenger door where it meets the front wing and is tricking in through the doors wiring loom or door check strap ?

Any advice be much
appreciated

Hi, if the door seal isn't a good fit on the body then water could get in there. Have you tried parking it with some blocks under the drivers side wheels so if it is the door seal water wouldn't enter the cabin ? On mine water was collecting on the inner wing, below the horn & seeping through the joint & into the cabin down those ribs in the passenger footwell see pics. I cut some of the bulkhead sound proof deadening away & syringed Capt. Tolleys down there & the same under the wheel arch (it was wet under the w/arch where the water was getting through from the inner wing even though the car hadn't moved) so I raised the front of the car & syringed in there as well. The C. Tolleys stuff confirmed the leak by appearing in the footwell from that rib in the middle as there is a hole at the base of it where the bitumen type stuff starts. So when I was happy it didn't leak any more I went over all the joints with Sikaflex & my leak was cured. You could try your dye trick by pouring it down below the horn on that joint & see if it appears in the cabin (I had rust in those areas so it was an educated guess that's where my leak was).

If it appeared in the cabin through the bonnet surely the footwell would be wet but it’s not it’s just the side by the door

Mine has a very similar problem, which lead to a completely rusted floor. I haven't tracked the leak yet, but I think it's coming from the door rubber, which is in a very poor condition. I've seen water leak between metal and the stiff part of the rubber in other vehicles (I mean the part that grips to the metal rib), so it's worth checking.
