p38 keeps changing down gear

im wondering if we have been supplied the wrong IAC valves? anyone know if the are diffrent between the later and earlier engines

what year is your vehicle
mines 1995 4.0..fantastic car if it wasnt for this niggle..best idea is..:beer2:
 
right got it sorted today, i had to change the 3 plugs that went to the engine control unit, one must of had a broken wire or summin but i cut them off and solderd on some new ones and all sorted, runs better than it ever did

FANTASTIC !!! hope mines turns out to be the same..where is the mentioned ecu located..did you use the same plugs with NEW WIRE?? or did you have to get new plugs???

i went to the breakers yard and cut the wiring off another range i used new plugs with about 6" of new wire, the ecu is situated behind the battery under a black cover.

get yourself some 3mm heatshrink too, to do the job properly, i dunno it if helped but i had the batery off the night before to charge it and left the motor plugged into a battery pack.

the car was without battery power for at least 2 hours whilst i was soldering so i recomend u do the same, maybe to help with some kind of reset, im unsure

all i know is that it worked for me, the 3 plugs in question are a large black one, a large red plug and a smaller black plug.

:D ALL SORTED!!!, RUNNING EXACTLY AS IT SHOULD NOW..WAS 2 BROKEN WIRES ON THE PLUG WHICH GOES ONTO THE T.P SENSOR..PROBABLY WHATS CALLED OVERLOOKING THE OBVIOUS...THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR VERY VALUED HELP..I HAD IT BOOKED IN FOR A DIAGNOSTICS WITH LOCAL LAND ROVER DEALER @ £40+
EVERYTHING WORKS AS IT SHOULD NOW..ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU:drum: :D
