Morning all.
I don't pick my p38 DSE up until Friday, but already know I need a new battery. I've searched and know I need the biggest CCA etc, but know where can I find the tray dimensions? I don't want to order a huge beast of a battery only to find it wont fit in.
Does any one know the maximum physical size that will fit in? Its a 1999 2.5 if that helps.
Many thanks.
Bren.

use search ,the battery situation has been done many times
Yes it has, and yes I've searched. No where can i find the physical dimensions in millimeters, or I wouldn't have asked ;-)
I can find loads on CCa and AH so am well aware of that, just need to know what size will physically fit in the tray.
Thanks.

You also need a battery with the terminals in the correct place. Many (such as those Halfords list) are no good as the terminals are the wrong way round and the stock cables won't reach.

Really the correct standard battery is all you get to fit in the stock location. I can't recall the number, I think it's the same battery as used on similar era recovery trucks, a little bit oddball, but easily enough available.

Thanks to all for the help.
Think I'm gonna grab a Platinum 642x, seems to be a popular upgrade.
and will fit nicely.
Cheers.

So.....is the Platinum the one to go for, and worth the extra pennies. Not particularly bothered about buying the cheapest one, just want one that will do a bloody good job and give no hassle in terms of fitting and connecting. (Having to replace a Bosch one on my Trooper (soon to be sold) after only 14mths use, I wont be getting another one of them, thankfully I did have a 4 yr warranty on it, so will be getting a refund on it, and using it for a Platinum, and the Trooper can go with the old previous battery on it as it still works)

Personally I have Hankook on all my cars bar one which has a Varta that came new with the car 2 years ago, guess which one will not turn over when it gets cold.

I have the Platinum 642X. Had an MF31 before but it didn't last as well or perform as well, IMO. I'll be going 642X again if this one ever gives up the ghost. Had Platinum in my Jag for years and it just doesn't seem to want to die.
