You must be getting weak 1 to 8 are 53 lbs ft. 9 and 10 68 lbs ft and side bolts 33 lbs ft. 68 lbs ft max is hardly tight. Wait til you do a Cummins diesels head bolts at 600 lbs ft. You hold the bar at the end not a quarter way down it.

Yep the book says those figures, but trust me, they were way beyond those figures....maybe after 18 year heat cycles they got bedded in, cos even the cross bolts were tight....

if you aint bought the bearings yet..go to autopost in london..NOT ebay if poss..(phone dem, and ask for Paulo..no one else..!!ring back later if he not about!!)
there stuff is good..ie genuine if required..he knows his stuff and runs rv8's..

oh and good luck...by the way..its the ali cover that wears typically on the oil pump, not the gears..(so the oil just bypasses pump so to speak)

the fact a bolt takes some undoing doesnt mean its was over torqued

Absolutely correct, head bolts for example, are always harder to undo than they are to tighten.
