So, changed the oil a couple of weeks ago, topped up properly but didn't check again. The other day while trying to park in the hospital underground car park for 25 minutes the oil light flickered and then came on. Got home and put a litre of oil in, just in case. All seemed well, today oil light came on, this time with "Stop Oil Engine Press" . Pulled in and added another litre of outrageously priced oil from garage, light still flickers. There is no oil seeping from anywhere, no black or blue smoke and the engine sounds sweet as a peach. Ran a scan and got code 1190 dtc fuel rail pressure plausability....whatever that means.
Could it be the oil sensor/sender is faulty?, as I say the engine sounds absolutely fine, anyone got any ideas, would be greatly appreciated.

Just checked the oil level, nearly too full! I will probably extract a litre just to make sure it is not over oiled! I am beginning to think it is the sensor, but will also check the oil filter and put a new one in as they are not expensive at all. Thanks for the ideas and help everyone....never a dull moment with an old RR!

Only a dipstick wouldn't pull the dipstick (if fitted) in the first instance. :vb-groan2:
Did check the dipstick initially but had just come out of a 3 hour chemo and immuno session which can mess with your head a bit, they call it chemo brain! It was short of oil the 1st time, not much, just around a litre, but today was a 'panic' event....must be the sensor, will order a new one and suck out the extra litre i put in today.

I'm confident that nobody would have posted a derogatory remark about your apparent failure to check the dipstick, had they been aware of your health issues beforehand.

I hope your treatment has a successful outcome, with minimal personal distress.
