I tried to drain the oil for an oil change and found that the drain plug just spins round in the thread.
Does anyone have any idea how to remove it?
I have tried putting a screwdriver behind it to put some pressure on the bolt but am not having much luck.
Any tips please.

You've got to take the sump off. Not knowing what's going on means that you will never be able to trust it.

Ooh, that's gonna be a messy task with a sump full of oil!
Rather him than me. :D

Def needs to come off though as it sounds like the thread needs re-tapping at the very least.

Bugger!
I think it may be easier to drill a hole in the pan and replace the oil pan.

Thanks guys

Drill the hole by all means but if you can repair the drain plug problem then either weld the hole up or put a nut and bolt through it and re-use the sump.
