Hi Guys....

My Landy TD5 Disco was going sweet and decided to drop all the oils in engine for nice new fresh one on Saturday. Driving home today and notice it started getting a bit noisy, pulled over and noticed a pool of oil under my car looked again and the oil plug had fallen out I obviously had not tighten the damn thing.

No oil light came on though and car did not over heat and walked back to see if I could find my plug as traced the oil spill back about 800 yards did not find plug. Got a recovery to pick it up and take it to a mates garage.

What are the chances its going to be ok?? or because the rough sound is what stopped me not a complete seize.

Any advice will be appreciated...as i said it was running sweet before I touched it..:(

It would have happened real quick...i doubt you've caused terminal damage but who can tell til you start it again...hope you've been lucky.

Oh, and of course, you're a cock.

Yeah that what the guy said that help pick it up...

You don't have to tell me that I am a COCK as I already know that...

Thanks anyway..

Thanks I am praying hard this is gonna work...my wife is already bitching how much I spent on it if it needs a engine I think I will be signing a divorce papers ...
good luck to you mate,

I did a similar thing last year on the wifes ford (didn't seal the new oil filter properly  ) but I got lucky, new timing belt and oil and it fired straight up :D

I think I'm gonna go out and check my sump plug tomorrow...

I second that if you been playing with the bloody plug recently...:(

Will let you know how I get on today I have good feeling my baby is going to be fine...So me and the wife can live happy till the next time I need to spend money on the Landy...:D

dont get too stressed yet mate

in perspective:

we recently bought a ford puma as a 'non runner'

scrap yard man said it came in cos oil pressure light was on.

we guessed it had bust the pump, run dry, ****ed up, needs new engine.

checked the dipstick and hey diddly ho, bone dry.

put 4 ltrs in it, and fired it up. no oil pressure light, although it was knocking quite badly.

i removed the sump and shells 1 and 4 had scored, pretty bad.

thinking cheap, we just bunged a set of shells in after emerying the crank a little.

ok, yes, it does knock a little bit at about 2300 rpm, but my bro has been driving it for about 4 months and its still alright!

now to do the job properly it needs the crank ground and a set of oversize shells - not a massive job in any case.

yours however probably never got as bad as our puma, if it only ran for a few seconds after you heard low oil symptoms (probably noisy top end first) then the chances are it didnt dry out enough to score the crank or cam.

new drain plug in, 6 ltrs of oil and fire it up, the worst that can happen already has so just cross your fingers! :D

:DGOOOOD News:D my Disco is alive and lives to fight another day!!!!!!!!!!!

Put drain plug in and loads of oil to the correct measurements and a little more RE- CHECKED the drain plug:rolleyes: and fired her up and it sounding sweet as ever. Thanks all for your kind support in the hours of worrying and crapping my pants. You are all a good bunch on here....

excellent news mate :D glad all is ok for you :D

If you stopped it before the oil light came on then you may be lucky. change the oil - add some slick 50 and keep everything crossed when you turn the ignition. Good luck!
