Hi guys, not been on for a few weeks due to work comittments but here I am again. I have a 2001 Rangey, 4.0 v8 auto with lpg conversion. Shes been running nice for the past few weeks. Parked her up last night with no problems, come to her this morning and won`t start. She won`t even try to fire. I have fuel in, both petrol and gas and have tried to start on both with same result so I have sort of ruled out fuel and am now thinking spark. Is it normal for it to go with no warning and what could it be.... Thanks in advance... forgot to mention tried both keys incase one was not recognised, same result... Any ideas greatly appreciated.....

Assuming theres no error messages on the dash check you have fuel n sparks and yes it can fook up anytime its a p38 :D

if your batt was a bit low, i would think it has lost sync..

Thanks guys, to answer a couple of queries, no there are no error messages and the battery is good, wizzing over the engine. I`ve tried both keys. Would it show a message if the keys had gone out of sync? Just braving the pouring rain to try and see if I have a spark, will report back.... Cheers....

i have sent you a pm, if you need help give me a shout..

Thanks for the pm, j the Range. I definately have no spark to the plugs and can`t smell fuel, no matter how long I turn it over for. Will any normal ODBII reader get the codes for me? I think I can get hold of one...
Cheers... Spender..

There's normally ony one sencor that will stop an engine starting CPS crank shaft pos cencor or the cam shaft pos cencor sometimes ide check these first could just be a bad connection.

Cheers J the Range. What does it mean going out of sync and what causes it. I take it its not just the keys but something else? Excuse the ignorance but I`m pretty new to Rangeys and all this electronic stuff is above my head!!

its the code between the, becm and engine ecu. its is common on the thor engine p38, to lose the code, and need a resync. mine does it every now and again. as you are not fer from me, i could come over later and do it for you. i dont charge for this. or you can get somebody out with t4 of faultmate to do it..

Hi guys, Rangey back on the road, thanks to j. the Range. What a guy, gets in his car and drives all the way to my house with his sync mate to fix it, gives me advice on my MAF and only wants petrol money.. TOP BLOKE.. Thanks again J....
