Due to not enough people wanting to do the recovery training and it then being too expensive. PaulD has taken over my Sue&Sarah newbie laning trip from North Yorkshire laning and has asked for a new thread.

It will now be for folks who want to try laning, those who want to know about recovery and experienced people who are willing to help. It will follow one of my easy routes starting and ending around Leeds Bradford airport. Think its about 70 miles but bits can easily be taken out if its too long.

Apart from the route its now't to do with me :D:D

Sorry Nig48, PaulD has now confirmed its going to be Saturday.

Please add your name and re post if you want to come

21st September Start around Leeds Bradford Airport

Easiest date for me will be Saturday 21st, so can we make it just that day please, if that's OK with everyone.

I do note that there's 1 on each day can't do the other so someone's gonna be upset, sorry, but I'd rather say sooner than later.

OK Sarah90 and Nig48, as this is getting bigger I want to check that route next weekend. You are welcome to come if we can get someone experienced to come with us. Any offers?

Oh and before anyone starts :p:p:p

We are not going out to get stuck. The lanes are easy and wont be damaged and we will be sticking to the tracks :D:D:D

Its responsible laning.

While you're doing that, look for somewhere reasonable to park up so we can show our tackle (oo-er missus!) and do some demo's on stuff .. ;) Just need some grass and a bit of space, preferably with a decent size tree, and if possible somewhere to dig!! You'll find out why ..

DON'T come in sunday best clothes, you WILL most likely get dirty .. :)

I'll discuss vehicle prep, recovery equipment, ropes versus strops etc and where you ought to use each. Self-recovery for loners using winches, swing shackle blocks, ground anchors and other methods. Then 2nd vehicle recovery and the various options depending on where and how you're stuck .. Hi-lift jacks and other 'tools' you can use to extricate yourself and others.

Sounds a lot, but it won't take long and hopefully it'll help you. It's all easy stuff, pretty self-explanatory but definitely common sense and safe when used properly .. which will be the under-pinning .. safety first. Do as I say, which isn't always how I (we) do it in the field .. but we'll also discuss bad practices too and more challenge oriented strategies if you want too .. ;)

While we're doing the lanes I'll try to pick a reasonable hill to show failed hill-climb re-starts and somewhere to show other various techniques to keep you moving before getting bogged down, and some basic lane-reading stuff, gauging whether you can or can't 'do' a particular lane or obstacle.

Should be fun for you, probably a tad easy and somewhat boring for more experienced laners, but hopefully that won't put them off helping and passing some of that knowledge on. ;)

:eek::eek::eek: Not asking for much are you

Do I still need jate rings at the front if I have these? Sorry if that's a stupid q. I presume you should have them at the rear too?

Yes. yes.

Those in your pics are just tie-down rings, not for recovery.

Ask Ollie .. ;)

The following are the best Jate rings, when fitted make sure they rotate fairly easily. If they're too tight the ropes/shackles fitted through them can jam.
