Finally got my own car and happy to say its one of the ones I have always wanted ! I am in love with her already but cant stop thinking of what I can upgrade or fit now. I am not going to be going mad with off roading but like to think I will do some maybe beginner runs or at least country muddy roads ! If anybody has any suggestions they would be much appreciated.. apart from if anybody send the very very original matches and petrol tank images as you know what you can do :)

Happy to join the Land Rover Club

Drew

Hi DML and :welcome: to Landyzone.
Glad to have you onboard.

And very pleasant to have a new member not whinging and complaining about a fault in their first post.

Before you decide to do anything major, can I suggest that you check out the usual bits that get overlooked.

Do a VCU check and make sure all the props are actually there, then -

pcv - get the BMW upgraded part.
EGR disable.
perhaps upgrade the headlight bulbs to Osram Nightbreakers.

But most of all - enjoy it.

Greetings from Singvogel.

Hi Singvogel and thanks !

Your suggestions are exactly the type of thing I wanted to know about and what to do ! I will get on the case.

Cheers again !

Welcome aboard! Just to let u know, dont listen to the tratter boys there just ****ed cause there always out in the cold welding bits that have fallen off!!! Lol anyway SV is 100% right make sure everything is in order before spending money making it look and perform outstandingly!!! Lol good luck!

Welcome Drew :),

Good to see a happy Landy newbie. Like SV said check the props and VCU - sometimes used freebies aren't even 4x4 they've been neutered! So best to be sure ;).

Once you're sure that everything that should be there is there and is working then I have a few light modding suggestions for you:

- Light guards
- Nudge bar
- Phat tyres for muddy fun

That's what I've done to mine and it sets it apart from the others driving around. I've got a few more mods planned but I'm just making sure all the mechanical loose ends are tied up first :).

My first car was a '96 Honda Civic, lovely little runabout which never let me down once in 45k of driving till I wrote it off on the back of an Audi :(.

The Hippo is my second car, and although I'm still working out several kinks I wouldn't swap it for the world. It's classy enough that my mates want to ride in it, but not too posh that they think I'm a flashy c*nt :D! Nah but seriously it's very comfy and feels great to drive - I look forward to every journey and unless summat breaks I get out with a big smile on my face :).

Welcome, nice first car........best colour too. :D

My first car was a mk3 1.1 escort that cost £60 and £1k to insure lol

Welcome to the landyzone freelander site, my first car was a hillman minx great car , then a 3.8 jag like morse's whish i still had it, it would be worth a fortune, and then a mini van which i put a cooper s engin in , talk about the brown stuff of a shovel , and after many more my latest Freelander 2006 model HSE td4 auto love it to bits you can keep the rest.

Your lucky, mine was a shoe box int middle ovt road - 1974 Hillman Imp super :)

Good little Scottish car that - the Imp.

My first 'car' was a van - a 1959 Austin A35. Cost me all of ninety-five pounds seventeen shillings and sixpence. ;)

No surprise that it had seen better days - I could see the road through the rust in the floor. :(

When you pressed the brake or the clutch, cold air went up your trousers!

Battery wasn't very big - so it was easier to start it using the handle.

Ah - nostalgia. :p

Those were the days - not!

Singvogel.
