my first landy

ey up folks im just in the process of getting my first ever landy, i shall be picking it up at the weekend, its a 1977 series 3, at the minute theres no engine in so im looking for 1, i was gunna put the spare v8 rover lup ive got but ive decided to go with diesel.
heres few pictures of it, i shall get better pics when i get it back home.

Looks like a nice machine, complete with cereal packet!. Why not the petrol?

well i was originally gunna go with my v8 spare,but then i thought might get it back to original with a diesel in, ideally i would like a nice quick project to get it on the road and use over the winter to make sure i can get to pick my kids up on weekends and also take the dog in back so i can keep the works car clean(first time ive ever owned a nice clean car) haha

im open to advice as ive seen series 3 engines and theyre wanting approx£200 for them so far.

I love my s3 n/a diesel, slow and noisy but I prefer it to the petrol engine in my s1

driving a diesel is good for me, no matter how hard you slam the accelerator it doesn't go any faster

that said for a lwb you would probably want a bigger engine, I had a 2.5 n\a 110 some years ago and that was seriously gutless, 2.28/2.5 is ok for a swb

you would be better fitting a 200 tdi engine you can pick them up for between £2/300.00 if your not sure about the full fit ie turb, intercooler and oil cooler take them all off and you have a 200di they are far superior than the old 2.2 diesels with the dpa pump,

like those seats btw

yes i have had a couple off ebay and have got one being delivered tomorrow for my rangie paid £390 for it but its got everything on reconned turbo new clutch new water pump and cam belt, and only done 70k
