Hi all

I have purchased a 2000 freelander TD4 but it is not ready for me to collect until 23rd August.

The vehicle is an ES and I would like to ask a few questions, if you could kindly answer them I would be very greatfull.

1. Are the wing mirrors going to be electric, as in fold in when the doors are locked and open out when ready to drive off?

2. What does the hill descent control do?

3. Do I need to purchase a fascia kit to install an aftermarket car stereo?

4. I would like to replace the gear knob with a new one. Does anybody know a good cheap site where I could purchase one please?

Thankyou in advance.

HDC does just what it says on the tin. It controls your descent on an hill if your offroad. It detects the movements of the wheels and accelerates/brakes as necessary in order to get you to the bottom of the hill in one piece. You just take your feet off the pedals and let the car do the rest. You still need to steer though.

Oh and the curling tongs have to be unplugged or the ECU gets a bit confoosed.

thanks guys...........

I have reasons for my questions...

If the wing mirrors are auto fold then the passenger side one is broken as it was folded inwards when I went for a test drive. Hence the reason I asked if it was electric.

I have no idea how hill descent works and was curious. Obviously something to do with going downhill!

I have 1 week before I get the motor and thought I could buy an aftermarket stereo and fascia plate if required before I collect the motor.

Thanks for the constructive replies though.................

My car is an 03 Serengeti model. It's mirrors are electric adjustment only & fold in & out manually. Not trying to be sarcy, but if you noticed this on the test drive, why didn't you check it out at the end of the run or ask the salesman what the score was with them? Reddy has explained the HDC & I can't help regarding the fascia as mine has standard kit fitted.

Welcome to the forum & good luck with your car, you will enjoy it.

leccy mirrors fold in or out when you use the knob.they dont close when you lock the car and open when you unlock.

unless you don't have the fold in/out leccy mirrors fitted, just the normal leccy adjust and heat....

just like "racy" said in the seventies, some girls do, some girls dont
