Hi
I have just been reading a post by someone who bought their Landy blind, well I thought I better come clean (and get ready for some of the **** take that is sure to follow) and tell you how I became the proud owner of my project or Rusty as my partner calls her, I have been wanting another landy for a while now, so when scouring fleabay i the have a habbit of starting the bidding off, knowing I have no chance of wining it LOL.
well this day I had just upgraded my mobile to one of these smart pnones that has the tinernet on it, so im having a long lie on a Sunday and surfing on "The new phone" and find this SWB with no bids and 4 still to go so by mistake I assume its 4 days, so I start the bidding off. Later that day at a family lunch at the fatherinlaws my pnone beeps, and im in the kitchen replenishing the beers, I look at the phone to realize it wasnt 4 days as I thought it was 4 hours and I had won it.
Now for the best bit im in Scotland near Inverness and this was in Utoxiter and it was on a Sorn ticket, and im due Offshore the next morning, but 30 minutes later I got a phone call to tell me I was bumped for a week, so that gave a chance to organise transport to get it up here.
So it arrived as promised by the transport company, and she is now "My Project" it needs a bit of welding and bits replacing, but this isnt a problem to me as I was a plant fitter for the last 20 yrs before going ofshore, so its good to get my hands dirty again.
:doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh:
so I look forward to hearing all the **** taking that I know will be posted!

you sound like the "tyre kicker" most fleabay sellers are talking about :D

:nopics:

We needs pics of the beasty, and you have proved to me me why I won't get a modern phone for myself or the Mrs. ;) way too risky:D

it needs pics of the underside but i have started to weld the chassis, ny plans are to try to get it through an mot this year and use it for shooting and through the bad weather if we get some and then strip it next year and replace the bad bits, photos to follow
:):):)

the footwells need sorting as do the door pillars, so hopefully i can get it mot'd and then in the better weather i can get her back to being a solid old girl, but apart from a couple of oil leaks the deisel engind starts on the button (ok key) so with a little welding and a good coat of waxoil which will help protect (hide) the chassis

well, £250 as a return load, so it was expensive but its good to get my hands dirty again, thats the only thing with working offshore, the tools were gathering cobwebs:)

That's not too bad given the distance.

And i assume you mean you bought it from Uttoxeter, Staffordshire?

Looks ok from the overview pics though, congrats :)

Looks OK - might be worth dropping the windscreen down and pouring as much rustproofing as you can into the top of the bulkhead. The paint looks a bit tired there and its a difficult to fix rust hot spot.

Aye, the bulkhead is one of the things that will need doing properly in the better weather, along with the front dumb irons, I am just going to patch her now so I can get an mot and see how she performs before I get to involved in stripping it over winter :) :)

Well ive had a good day on the old girl, got some of the welding done out of the way, sorted out some of the electrical probs, but found another one tonight, I loose front side lights when the headlights are on, proberly a wire off behind the dash, ordered up rear break overhaul kit and axle seals, and fixed the door handle that wouldnt open from the out side, and last but not least re secured the window runner so now she is secure (well as secure as a series can be) :)
