My 300Tdi rescue thread

I've got a beige one. Its a bit slow to retract but I've been using it ok for a few months. I'm going to be fitting out the rear with storage shelving etc so won't need it. Is that any good to you?
 
Fitted the new Allmakes vacuum pump this morning - it took an hour or so overall. Access is a bit awkward as I'm a shortarse and the pump is half way down the engine block... so I was standing on some caravan steps :D

Anyway, it did the job and the brakes are back to normal - ie 'ok' lol. Not fantastic but a solid 'ok'. I'll up fitting 110 discs and calipers later this year (thanks for the tip StuRox), but for now I'm delighted that a one hour job has put the old girl back on the road :) :) :)

Plus, a Brucie Bonus, my carpet set arrived courtesy of LittleButch - thanks mate, they're bob-on, far better condition than I was expecting. A quick clean and they'll be going into the old girl tomorrow hopefully!

Just got to fit the front carpet now - but that involves removing the front seats and centre console, hence I didn't have time yesterday.

Cut the bridging strips and fit the carpets with seats and cubby in place. Saves a lot of aggro and the carpet stays in place fine - mine's been like that for years.
 
Got the front carpets in now as well - I decided to remove the centre console anyway, but the seats didn't need to come out in the end which was a relief as they're chuffin heavy lol

So she's taking shape quite nicely now. I took her for a longer run last night to make sure that the brakes are indeed fixed, and they're fine. No leaks during the rainstorm either :) I think the next item on the agenda will be to fit the CB and run the cable to the rear aux fusebox - this will be located on the panelled out rear driver side window if everything goes to plan...
 
Thanks to StuRox for his suggestion about fitting 110 front brakes to the Disco, I've now ordered a full brake overhaul for the Disco - 110 vented discs at the front and new bog std D1 discs at the rear. I was going to flush the system with new brake fluid, but having looked at the calipers it was pretty clear that the nipples would have sheared - to say the calipers are a bit rusty is an understatement!!! So the brake update was needed sooner rather than later lol. So thats another £300+ spent in 10 mins lol. Thats front discs, pads, calipers, pad fitting kit, new caliper bolts and gaskets, rear discs, calipers, pads, pad fitting kit, caliper bolts and gaskets, plus a +40mm braided brake hose kit. I've already got some ATE Super Racing Blue brake fluid, so I just need a nice day one weekend to get the lot fitted!

Island4x4 were very helpful in confirming the parts I need, so I just went ahead and ordered the lot from them. They tend to be pretty cheap anyway so I'd probably only save £10-20 by shopping around.

So thanks again StuRox - I'd have just fitted the std parts if it wasn't for your post.
