I hit my limit with the clock binnacle shroud on my D1, As you all know, it's a flaky pile of snot as if it was almost designed to fail with broken tangs and screw holes.

A few bits of plastic, some Gorilla Glue Epoxy, a strip of stainless steel and a strip of velcro appears to have solved it, well, good enough for me.

I cut out a couple of overlays for the rear tangs using some flexible plastic. Glued in place with GGE.

I had some acetal plastic lying around and cut a wedge to go in between the screw holes. I simply used a grinding with cut off disc and sander to shape. I shaped it to the same level as the screw hole legs, see pic. You could just as easily use a piece of wood.

I then cut and drilled a strip of stainless steel and screwed this to the bracket which the binnacle would normally screw to.

Lastly, stick Velcro strip to binnacle wedge and a couple of smaller pieces of velcro to stainless strip. I used smaller pieces on stainless as I didn't want it to be too string and for binnacle to disintegrate taking it off.

Voila, works fine and now don't have to much around with screws. Note, it doesn't quite pull in tight, but hey, it wouldn't tighten at all in broken condition and now it can't be broken again.
