The bigger tyres will come in due course, I'm looking at probably Michelin Latitude on my 17" rims of 235/65 or so, whatever the nearest size is. Looking for an extra 25mm or so on the radius.

Not sure what I'll do with the winter tyres. Might go for some steel wheels with bigger winters for next winter.

I've got a 34mm radius increase on mine, makes my speedo bang on accurate, what it shows I'm doing is what I'm actually doing

Same here, on standard tyres my speedo was about 3 - 4 mph high at 30 mph & 5 - 6 mph high at 70 mph, got 29" dia tyres now & the reading is spot on

GPS in my case, across 2 devices

Interestingly, my speedo reads high, but the Scangauge 11 is generally within 1-2mph of my Tom Tom Go 6000 .....


and that is with 60 profile tyres, not 65's

I agree with you totally.

They are only accurate when driving at a constant speed in a straight line on the level in the open.

That doesn't happen often.

Thats why I used more than 1 device. As it happens I also did the test on a straight bit of A1 where I could maintain a constant speed and vary it down and up

A quick update.

My heater matrix has been leaking for a while, which is why my FL I suffers from condensation after it had warmed up.

I don't have the time, energy or enclosed space to do it myself, so it is currently at my local garage being replaced.

I hope it will be done tomorrow.

It was getting worse and I could smell the sickly sweet antifreeze smell inside the cabin. It also lost some water, about 0.5l.


I've been putting it off for a while, but it is now time to do it.

If you set them to display minimum detail so they aren't processing a lot of other info the speed calcs update more frequently, check it on a straight piece of road & maintain a constant speed for 30 seconds or so they are fairly accurate. Also those speed monitor signs when you are coming into a built up area are surprisingly good but you need to maintain a constant speed as you aproach them.

I saw the old heater matrix earlier. Rusty and wet is the best way of describing it.

The garage have now put the new one in, so I now have to dry out the interior, but it will be worth it, as I hope my condensation problems will go. It used to mist up when the car reached working temp and steamed up, even with the air con on. Just need to go around with the heater on full and pointing at the floor

The car is soooo much better now re condensation. I no longer get misted up windows after the car has warmed up.

I have moved my Scangauge to below my head unit.

On the HSE there is a little cubby hole, which is perfect for glasses storage when I'm wearing sunglasses, or even for putting the iPhone.

I have put the Scangauge there to see if it is a better location than flapping around on top of the steering wheel housing.

I looked at installing it above where the clock goes, or where my internal & external temp gauge is, but for me, that is too far away.

The cable routing is temporary until I decide where its final resting place will be.

I'd have probably put mine there if I still had that little cubby. Instead I have an Alpine Double DIN unit.

I had my temp/clock/voltage monitor (about same size as your scanguage) in that little cubby hole for a while but now have put it where you had yours, over the steering wheel console, using double sided sticky sponge

I noticed for the first time a louder than normal noise from the fuel pump under the rear wheel arch. When I try and go over 3000 rpm, there feels like a rev limiter cutting in and the orange EM light comes on. Back off and the light goes out.

Thought if order a new fuel pump.....

Next month I will also replace all 4 injectors, and all the fluids.

I am expecting a transformation!!!!

In the mean time I have switched off the Ronbox........

Reduce fuel pressure on the fuel pump. I think. Anything to help it get me up to Oxford tomorrow and then back to Croydon without being on the back of a breakdown truck....... and then for work on Monday & Tuesday until the new one arrives and I get a chance to fit it.
