Not where Fanatic Thinks ...
Ok so my MOT's due and I thought I would take a look underneath and see if there was anything obvious that needed doing. Chassis looked a bit ****ty so thought what the hell just go round a give it a tap to remove any loose crap.

**** me thats where everything turned to ****.

Take a look at these and advise me on the next steps because I'll be ****ed if I know how to get myself out of this rust based hell.

Good God it looks awful.

Welder+Steel=MOT, We all bin there mate, my disco was a ****box when i got her, but now after many a happy evening spent grinding and welding she is an unrusty strong ****box! Time to crack out the welder! Happy weldering

Are you next to the sea? It is quite severe looking at the holes and the rest of the metal around it. Before you even attempt to patch / splice patches in, I'd really check the rest of the chassis very thoroughly. If you're lucky, it'll still be good and solid in most places, but if you're unlucky, most of the insides will have rotten away leaving a very thin metal wall on the outside which is not going to be weldable or safe to weld to. Wire brush and pressure wash the hole thing down and then take a good look from there.

Like Pos said , I suspect it may have just been caked in mud and never cleaned, or you use it to carry salt around in!

May be time to remove body, and replace the frame with a nice new galv one - depends how much its worth - you may make more by selling the engine, gearboxes, seats, trim, WHEELS! etc etc and getting a new one

So thats it then I am fooked. Friggin balls ache thats going to be, I sure as hell aint got 3 - 4 grand spare to put a new chassis on it. What to do know is the question, get my local landy wizard to take a look and confirm the death of my landy or SORN it and start saving and working nuts off.

What would you lot do ? Only bought it in November and the gizzer never said anyhing about needing a new chassis.

ahhhhh !!!!

so i take it you never took a large blunt instrument with you, and had a good poke around under neath then !!
sorn it and take your time welding it back together ......... but it will defently need major surgery by the looks of the piccys you put up !!

ahh ok remember talking to you before now ! ok jnr is at me mum and dads so have some peace and quiet ! If you need a hand with anything give me a shout as i'm about 3/4 hour away in me ford or 7 days in me series :D

1. Have you got a large garage or plot of land/big drive/garden. ?
2. Can you weld?
3. Are you any good with a set of spanners?
4. Have you got lots of spare time?

If the answer to the above is Yes, Then get it stripped down to a rolling chassis and get welding.

If the Answers NO! then get shot of it.
