Ok seeing as yours has only got 20k on it when I get home Iam using yours as a reference point for a Goodun! Though I think for the peace of mind I will change it, looking underneath its never been off road and the Tyres, bridgestone dueler hvt's are all evenly weared looks like they have been rotated as they are are all 4mm no stepping so hopefully Iam good

i knew mine was fooked when i brought it and the inside rear wheel used to skid on the tarmac. More or less impossible to get into a parking space. Previous owner had IRC recondition. I wonder why :blabla:

 i've just tried ringing bell enginering to arrange my vcu swap, but it rang through to an answear 'phone, do they close for lunch? i did'nt see anything on there web page about it, left a message, hoping they will get back to me;) really paranoid that my vcu is going to explode, implode, expire & desict to be at any second :eek::eek::eek: heeeeeeeelllllllllppppp, think i'm losing the plot over this:D

To a point yes.
You have also got to get your work done.
Phone rings.
"Bet thats another f...... Freelander owner paranoid about his VCU."

You could probably afford a nice young lady to answer your phone with all the extra business, just train her up then you've got the best of both worlds:)

When your worried about your car,you want to speak to a man who knows, not some blonde with nice nails.
Anyway she would be to busy mopping my fevered brow:)

As this is a VCU thread i may aswell as the question here. Getting a new VCU soon. Got about 4mm on the front tyres and rear are brand new. Do you reckon i should put the VCU in the shed untill i get 2 new tyres for the front so they are all equal or do you reckon bigger on the rear will be ok and wont screw my VCU up? I cant bring myself to get new tyres when i still have some life in the old ones but i want to take the freelander down some lanes before they shut for winter

If your VCU is suspect you need to change it now if not leave it till it is. So long as you have more tread on the rear there should be no problem. Another panic buy? Take it down the lanes it will probably do the VCU good, use it or lose it.

If your reffering to my post then i should mention I have been in mondo mode all summer. Took it off very shortly after i brought my FL when i could no longer park my car without the rear wheels skidding.
I am in no doubt that i need a new VCU but i often read that you should change your tyres in 4's. I am also very aware that as i have brand new tyres on the rear and nearly worn out on the front that the rotational distance would be different and that the front wheels would always be going round alot more than the rears which is what happends when you get wheelspin. Now.....i appreciate that the the speed difference between front and rear wheels wouldnt be as much as if they were spinning but over a long drive would this "work" the VCU too much and cause a problem?

I hope this made sense....tis way too late for me to be on the interweb but i couldnt stop thinking about it...

front wheels are driven slightly faster ,if you could work out exact size rear wheels need to be larger than front so equal drive was achieved vc would last longer
