thinking of converting my disco 2 v8 4.0 ltr to lpg any recomendations .

Absolutely, without-a-doubt, why did you get a 4.0 ltr petrol, never mind, yes go-for-it. My 3 ltr Merc had a 100 ltr tank and started and ran strictly on lpg and would do it again HOWEVER!!!! are you going to fit it yourself or must you get someone to do it for you, which brings me to the point. They are great until someone bodges the job or doesn't have a clue as to how they intergrate into existing systems. Big adverts don't make good engineers so be very careful with what you choose and who you get to fit it which of course is why you posted your add,

yes wanted to know if someone had used a garage who they recommended

i fitted my own kit i got second hand of a mates range rover he was scraping , plumbed it all in wired it all up myself ,made and mounted brackets to carry a 100lt tank.
then got told of horror stories of self fit kits blowing the air flow meter apart or the crankcase , so sent it in to a place in bolton who checked the installation for leaks the vapouriser turned out to be faulty , but didn't cost to much to replace , best money i've ever spent.that was 3 yrs ago well paid for itself, and a bonus of no emmission test come mot time,

I don't know where in the country you are, but I had my disco II v8 converted about 3 years ago by a company called Pemco Pitstop in Yeovil, Somerset. They put on a Prins multipoint system that has worked flawlessly since then (about 35,000 miles), so would recommend them.

Hi, first post as a newbie, have however already fixed a couple of issues with my car with info from this site. Well useful. I bought my car ( actually, my wife will tell you it is hers!) last year, and after the warranty expired, got a gas conversion fitted. Mine is a Prins fully sequential system, very tidy and well installed, with 75 litre tanks where the old fuel tank used to be. Useable 65 litres. If you get one fitted and don't have a towbar, make the decision if you will ever want a towbar as this will affect the tank sizes used. Make sure you use a decent system, Prins is good but expensive (approx £2600). It is fully automatic, ties into the existing engine management ecu and I have done nearly 12000 miles with no major issues at an average equivalent economy of about 35mpg. My conversion was done at a place called Hilton Autogas in Cannock, and the level of detail goes down to a body coloured filler. Good luck, and stick with the V8, in my opinion far nicer than the td5!! (controversial!)

Whatever you do, you need a certificate from the installer (or if you get it done yourself you need to get it certificated by an "LPGA" authorised place) for your insurance company so as to not invalidate your insurance - oh, and you need to not forget to actually tell your insurance company!
