Hi guys I am David and live in Chatham Kent, I am new here and have a major problem. My 98 Freelander 1.8, over heated a week ago. So a mechanic friend of my done a compression test and resulted in changing the head gasket. so far so good, started the engine all compression fine, ticking over nicely. then we took her for a test drive and as soon as you put a load on the engine it lost power.I have changed the coil pack rotor arm and distributor, spark plugs look ok . so if any of you can help a dummy in distress I would be very thankful. I have read that it could be the Cat causing problems and I know for a fact that mine is broke as it rattles around inside. but if that was causing a bloke then I would have thought you would not be able to rev it when stationary.

Thanks for any help David
