HI,

I have noticed water on the rear parcel shelf a number of times but always forgot to look when it rained.

Well this weekend I remembered. The rain is dripping in along the top edge of the door and runs down the high level brake light dripping onto the shelf.

The door appears level so would I put this down to my needing a new tailgate door seal ?

Thanks

Mark

aye another comon problem.
do check that the door is in a straight shape though. some previous owner may have let it smash open and bent it.

Hi,

I have a similar problem in that I get a water build up at the base of the rear window on the inside of the rear door (with spare wheel on it). The top of the door seems paralell with the top gutter so does not look like it is bent. Would the door seal be the problem?

\is it possible to use vaseline/grease to hel;p it seal or do I need a new seal? I can't see any damage to the seal.

Cheers
James

I have found on my rear door that the two bolts on the body make two equal dimples in the rubber door seal at the very top and let water in when I pressure wash my beasty. It's letting in dust there as well. Need to find a way to stop it. I might try removing the bolts and see what falls off eh?

I've been suspicious of those bolts too, but there are two seals at the top of the tailgate so one would think that even though it gets through the first, the second should stop it!

I was thinking of some extra sealing around there to stop the water getting in - maybe a bead of silicone around the top of the door, but that would look a bit silly!

Are there any upgraded seals that can be bought to rectify this?

I'll check the door thoroughly over the weekend, the replacement seals are main dealer only apparently at a cost of  £48.00 + the vodka

My disco is parked on a hill front downward, because the car is sloping downwards, the water can get into the gap between the door and gutter. The drips are quite regular when they get going.

There was an article in LRO this month that looked at the D2 and some of the problems they can have.

One of them was water leaking in through the back door and collecting in the recessed base of the rear window. They say that the top of the door has to be bent in to stop the leak. I've tried a block of wood and hammer to try to bend the top in gently, but with no luck. I will try running a small amount of sealant around the inner lip of the tailgate to rty to get a better seal with the door rubber and see if that works.

Does anyone know if there is any adjustment to make with the back door that could raise the door upwards helping the seal? There's no adejustment section in RAVE for the back door.

Cheers,

James
