land rover freelander sport td4 buying tips and advice

hi guys im looking at buying a land rover 2005 model sport 5 door hse just wondering what to check for when going to look at one signs of wear common faults ect also whats the pros and cons to a automatic transmission and and manual also petrol vs diesel fuel economy what's better your views please ?

im in the same situation as you.

also after getting a td4 sport.

only get the diesel mate, the 2.5 v6 petrol i have heard is not worth the trouble.

anythink petrol is not good regarding mpg, let alone a 2.5 litre !!!

the diesel is a good engine as far as i know.

will be intresting to hear what people have to say ?

I am collecting mine tomorrow and can't wait will let you know on economy, it's a TD4 Sport manual.

fuel economys good but can drop alot if you drive it hard

pull off and block the breather pipe on the EGR to stop the annoying lag when pulling away, also fit a EGR blank if you can

buy all the filters and change them yourself, they are all easy fits except the fuel one under the rear arch

they are great freelanders and i think the sports look nice on the 18" rims

Do a search on here for common faults & what to check for & you'll definitely need a synergy 2 tuning box from roverron as sporty they aint in standard form.
