Lack of power lots of black smoke

My pulley for the belt tensioner snapped of on M6 friday evening last week.
Recovered I set about fixing it sat morning.
In the end I had to strip out everything back to the pump housin.
Got a secondhand water pump complete from a Stoke based 4x4 Breakers ( my heroes )
Fitted it and power steering pump, alternator, radiator & fan.
Redid coolant, bled the power steering unit.
Set of on test drive and had masses of black smoke and massive loss of power.
Turbo problem I have been informed.
If so can someone please direct me to what could be the problem.
Supposed to be working 3 days before heading down to Glastonbury Festival so as You can all imagine I am getting a little tetchy:mad::mad::mad:
 
I would not be a pro for this type of thing but I think you might be right about the turbo having gone pop.
The black smoke might be oil burning off. Can you look at the turbo to see if there is or has been oil deposited inside.
Once again I am very, very new to the site and to Land Rovers so don't quote me. I do hope it is something simple.
 
Check that the waste gate actuator rod has not fallen off the waste gate. It should be held on with a circlip and if it falls off the engine will not develop any boost.

You will need a mirror to look generally as its under the turbo, you can I think from memory see the rod from above and check its not flapping about in the wind.
 
check air filter and hose to turbo from filter (can collapse internally )and hoses from turbo to cooler for splits same from cooler to inlet manifold

As others have said the obvious places to check are air filter and turbo rubber hoses.

You need to take the hoses off to examine the inside of them. What can happen is that the inside starts to come apart and folds over to semi-block the airway, creating an over-fuelling situation.

If in any doubt at all, just replace them with new as they're cheap enough from the likes of Paddocks.
 
Ok Gentlemen. Fixed I believe. Yes I had folded the inside of bottom hose to the intercooler. However after the tip off about the actuator rod I dug deeper and found that it was indeed disconnected. After a great deal of contortion and pain I got it re-attached.
Undoing the lock nut and unsrewing the rod by about 5-6 turns.
I have owned the vehicle for over 2yrs now and when everything went together my Turbo now works. Duh!
Can anyone advise as to how all this will affect performance fuel consumption etc.
