Have fun chaps, dont forget pics!

PS question, i was very much in CB radio into the 80's 27/81 stuff, i even had a cobra 148GTLDX although must confess it was rubbish at picking up girls which was the main reason I had a CB in the first place :p, and was not really into the DX scene. Anyway my question is wots with the new channel ones? Are they the same channels as the old? If you have an old one can you chat to someone with a new?

New style have more legal channels.
I have a small CB in the landy for lanes & tractor work. Small aerial about same size as normal radio type. Can’t push much watts through these( old twig used to have 200wat burners used for DX while driving, always fun)
If I’m out on lanes it’s on just to make sure some single tracks are clear of traffic.

And as for women….not no more.
(Will find make & model later)

Yep you can still chat with others on old type

I don’t know much about them - did have one back in the late 80’s/early 90’s… me and my mate thought we were sooo cool 🤣

I’ve got a new one in and working, though from what I can establish, there is not much going on at all (apart from our continental colleagues on the M20. It only has the 40 normal uk channels, but you can then switch it to ‘EU’ and other frequencies.

I too have only put a small aerial on, as only want it for laning fun, so guess someone would have to be in the next road for me to pick them up anyway! I know it’s working as i managed to talk to one guy, but the reception was so crap I never did hear where he was 😂

my biggest challenge is how to mount either my Avanti Sigma 4 or a full wave GPA on the gutter of the defender, might have to just use a Thunderpole Mk3 if it comes to it...:p

Be careful attaching things to a defender gutter… it might induce rust and you don’t want that, huh!?! I’ve also heard they can be prone to a leak or two, so avoid the roof 🤣😂🤣
