judder at rear

I have a w reg 2000 freelander and it has developed a judder/banging at rear wheels when turing at junctions etc(under power)and sometimes pulling away,strange thing is it does not do it all the time,i think it does it more with passengers aboard,i have had a quick read but not sure what to think!
any advice would ge great

Mine did this but only when turning on full lock. It was like a banging on the underside of the rear floor. Check your rear diff mounts.
 
well its not the diff mounts i undid the front one and its ok,checked the left and right ones with torch and they looked ok aswell,i thought they would be as these were changed around 6 months ago any diagrams to point me in the right direction of the other 2 things to check?
I also did the vcu tippex test and the vcu is also ok just hope its not the ird its only done 45k

Fair chance it's the cracked chassis/subframe mount issue, covered extensively on here (search on above)

It occurs on the rear offside subframe mount and can be either one of 2 things or a combination of both.

1. Subframe mounting bolt - nut inside chassis breaks loose from it's weld

2. Chassis beneath this mounting cracks through


Manifests itself as a clonk if you reverse and then pull forward. Also a creak occurs as the chassis metal cracks up

So, are you saying you had the 2 side supports for the rear diff changed but NOT the front one.

It's usually the front one that goes and makes the banging, not expensive
 
its actually quite a big judder can feel it right through the vehicle,i thought it was the suspension,i think i will have to take it to a garage.
 
Its mainly occuring when i turn into right hand junctions and the passenger side rear wheel judders(as all the vehicle weight seems to be on it) and it does it slightly when pulling away the same side i think.
 
I dont know much about cars so i may be a million miles off, but i was having those symptoms on a previous car and it was my CV joint, the gator had torn and the grease had come away, was a ticking time-bomb
 
Its not the cv joint,i have changed diff mounts to test and still the same any pics or information as to what im looking for on the rear subframe/chassis?
 
The info on this forum is insufficient. The nut holding the front-right part of the subframe to the chassis is supposed to be loose, as are all four of the nuts. It's the cage covering the nut that should not be loose. IMO this is crucial information, and can not be found on this forum.

When I get around to fixing the problem on my own Freelander I will write the entire story with pictures and all on my (most excellent) blog.
