Having gone through it myself last year, and then again this year, you've not got much chance. They're trying to price young drivers out of buying land rovers.

came out on aviva at £9637.50! unbelievable how these insurance companys do it

Reminds me of my old van. With no no claims, it cost me £504 full comp to insure a 97 1.8D Escort Van, a year later when I was 25 and had 1 year no claims the same company wanted £800. I was able to get it down to £512 by shopping around and reducing mileage to just enough to get to work and home for a year. Even now, when I get quotes sent for my van (they seem to think I still own it and get sent a quote every now and then), the best I've seen is £650.

Insurance in the UK is a joke. Every other country in the world manages okay without exuberant prices, yet in the UK, they price everyone off the roads. I imagine if they did lower the prices, there would be less uninsured drivers, fixing two problems with one stone.

But I have to ask, how is 4 miles too far for someone to walk? Are kids today that lazy? I used to walk 5 miles to collage and 2 miles to uni, I still quite happily walk the 6 miles into town. Who really needs a car to commute 2 miles to work?

do what the pikeys do mate just drive it dont bother with insurance and if you get pigged tell em your insane !! theyl probabaly let you off !!!

I've had insurance with Swinton, but it was expensive. You're always going to be looking at high prices at your age... My brother had a fiesta <2.0l and he was paying nearly £2000. It's just criminal...

The Australians (unfortunately, as much as I have a foul taste for the country :p) have this right... The Government guarantees insurance of the lowest standard for everyone in the country, so if you injure someone the Government acts as your insurance. It drives down insurance prices (because you don't HAVE to buy extra insurance) and subsequently, as said before, means more people buy insurance cover!

The Americans also have an alright system, where you insure the car and not the driver, which again drives down prices.

Actually come to think of it in the US the system produces some scary results... Because it's so cheap to insure younguns on big cars you get situations such as where seventeen year old girls are driving around in Ford F-350s doing their hair, talking on the phone etc. not paying attention. Maybe there are some benefits to our system!

i dont think a 17 year old should be able to have a 3tonne truck anyway there should be 21 age limit or sumin like that.

sorry i know its not helpfull to here it but whats going to happen if you crash it due to inexprance whats going to happen to what or who you hit.
